Five phases from the foundations to the full world, and how far each has come.

“History by default, fun as the tie-breaker.”

Where we are, and what comes next

The road to the full world

The server is built in five phases, each ending with a test, and the living world was brought forward ahead of Phase 2. Each theme below is something you will meet in the game, with how far it has come.

  1. Phase 1

    Foundations

    Being tested

The ground everything stands on: your account and characters, talking by voice, fighting and being rescued, coin you can hold, and the book.

Done whenStaff can log in, talk by voice, fight, go down and wake at the infirmary, hold and drop coin, and every action shows in the logs.
34 of 67features of this phase on the test server
    • Your character

Ten backgrounds, a face from the game's own parts, two characters per account, and a name people only learn when you introduce yourself.

On the test server2 of 4 parts built
    • Talking by voice

Whisper, talk or shout to whoever is near enough to hear. Push-to-talk is a server rule.

On the test server4 of 4 parts built
    • Wounds, rescue and death

You go down instead of dying, someone carries you to the infirmary, and the wound stays until it's treated. A life ends only by a finishing blow, a sentence or your own choice.

On the test server4 of 7 parts built
    • Coin and things you hold

Every coin and every item is a real object: carried, stored, given, dropped or taken from you.

      Planned
    • The book and the menus

Your book (L) and the menu on another person (E). Nobody has to remember a command.

On the test server3 of 3 parts built
    • Day, night and the bells

A day of six hours and a night of one. The bells ring the hours, and Sunday falls on Sunday.

On the test server2 of 2 parts built
    • Getting in

Link Steam with one click in the game, read the rules, answer five questions and make your character. The rules are being written.

    Behind the scenes

    • The server and the game worldThe server decides what happens, keeps the world the same for everyone, and saves it.
      On the test server
    • A record of everythingEvery trade, blow and staff action is written down, so cheating gets caught while the rules stay generous.
      On the test server
    • Staff toolsA staff panel that acts: find anyone, jail, warn, ban, give back what a bug took, and a map only staff see.
      On the test server
    • Accounts, Discord and the web panelChecks at the door, a Discord bot, and a web page for applications and appeals.

  2. Brought forward

    The living world

    Being tested

Pulled ahead of Phase 2 on 6 November 2026, so the world feels lived in from the first test: townsfolk, traders, the watch, courts, houses, offices, lordships, the Church and traffic on the roads.

Done whenThe towns look lived in at every hour. A robbery makes a district more dangerous, guards come in numbers, and it calms down over the following days. A player buys a house from its family and gets the key.
39 of 60features of this phase on the test server
    • Townsfolk with lives

A family in every house, with work, meals, prayers and talk at the inn. New families move into empty homes.

      Planned
    • Traders and market day

NPC traders sell plain goods and buy from you. Market day fills the squares, and pedlars walk from village to village.

On the test server3 of 3 parts built
    • The watch and the jail

Guards keep their posts and rounds, come in numbers that fit the crime, and take offenders to the jail.

On the test server3 of 3 parts built
    • Danger on the roads

Roads and districts grow quieter or more dangerous with what happens there, and bandits haunt the worst of them.

      Planned

On the test server2 of 3 parts built
    • Courts and sentences

Player judges hold sittings at the court. Sentences run from a fine to outlawry.

On the test server4 of 4 parts built
    • Notice boards and criers

Summons, the wanted and sales on the boards. Criers call the news at the bells.

On the test server3 of 3 parts built
    • Houses, keys and inns

Buy a house from the clerk or its family, hold the deed and the key, pay your dues, or rent a room at the inn.

On the test server8 of 8 parts built
    • Offices and letters

An office comes by a sealed letter of appointment. The register shows who holds what.

On the test server5 of 5 parts built
